I have found myself in this position, more often times than I would like to admit. Staring at the blinking cursor, wanting to write — but what? Will people care? I guess, no amount of staring will help answer that. So here I am.
Why this, why now
I am a hacker by heart. I like breaking and playing around ever since I was a kid. Downloading 100 free cursors with one simple click? - Been there, done that. Bricked the family PC countless times. One thing led to another—and now I do the same with ML models. I will write about those.
I am about to complete 5 years into my career. I was caught off-guard was the fact that how many of my friends want to have a similar path and crack ML roles more reliably. I think I can help them and you, if you are in the same boat. I have received a lot of queries, asking me about how do I land these roles, how to make a good resume, who all are hiring, what caught me off-guard in an interview etc etc. I will try to write about those as well. Why try you ask? Because, no matter how much anyone says how to be good at salary-maxxing (not saying mine is maxxed, but its a good goal to have for us earthlings), it is not deterministic. Noise is real.
What kind of name is {{IndexError}}?
Edit: This was the name of the blog prior to mlresearchengineer. My SEO-expert (chatGPT) told me its better to name it something which is searchable. My creativity will find avenues to let itself out (sigh)
Honestly, I want to act all deep about it. If you are growing in life, you are bound to hit IndexError some time or the other. IndexError is growth. It means you are accessing stuff, which was previously unknown to you. I think that is beautiful. Writing this blog is an IndexError for me. I wish you hit a lot of IndexErrors in your life :)
